Starlight Children’s Foundation 2020 Annual Report
Starlight is proud of what we were able to accomplish in 2020. While the COVID-19 pandemic magnified loneliness, anxiety, and fear for hospitalized kids, Starlight was there delivering comfort, happiness, and entertainment. Whether it was a colorful Starlight Hospital Gown or a fun toy from Starlight Deliveries, seriously ill kids all over the country found comfort in our innovative programs.
Despite 2020 being a year of economic challenges, our supporters came together to ensure that seriously ill kids could receive the support they need through Starlight programs. We impacted 1.5 million hospitalized kids through this difficult year. We are humbled and grateful for this outpouring of support.
Here are a few highlights from 2020:
Program Impact
Starlight worked hard to invest every single dollar into our programs to ensure maximum impact of each donation. Together we accomplished so much:
1.5 million hospitalized children and 459 pediatric facilities were impacted by Starlight programs
65,574 Starlight Gowns were delivered to seriously ill kids
310 Starlight VR headsets and 21 Starlight Gaming stations were placed in hospitals across the country
$2.3 million in toys, books, crafts, and other fun things were brought to kids through Starlight Deliveries
16 Starlight spaces were completed or broke ground
Commitment For Change
Against the backdrop of the pandemic, the social justice movement inspired millions to stand against systemic racism and make a positive change through sustained action. In support, Starlight launched our Commitment for Change: an equity, diversity, and inclusion initiative to deliver Starlight programs to more medically underserved and vulnerable populations.
Stream For Starlight
Stream For Starlight (S4S) invites content creators, gamers, and individuals to stream content and raise money to deliver happiness to seriously ill kids. Since 2019, streamers have raised more than $630,000 for seriously ill kids. 2020 was a banner fundraising year for S4S, with streamers all over the world coming together to host charity streams benefitting Starlight.
