Starlight and MLB in a League of Their Own

Starlight and MLB continued their partnership in 2021 by honoring Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and funding Starlight Nintendo Switch handhelds to deliver happiness to hospitalized kids.

A total of 15 MLB Clubs donated two handhelds each to their local hospital, which came pre-loaded with R.B.I. Baseball 21, thanks to MLB. In addition to games like Animal Crossing and Mario Odyssey, streaming services — like Hulu and Netflix— were loaded onto every Starlight Gaming handheld delivered to these hospitals.

With the ongoing pandemic and many hospital restrictions still in place, these MLB-funded Starlight Nintendo Switch handhelds provide kids the opportunity to just feel like a kid and play games – especially in a time when they may not be able to have friends and family come visit them as often.

Plus, some teams were even able to get a little creative with their Starlight Gaming handheld drop-off!

The Boston Red Sox sent their mascot, Wally the Green Monster, to show off the handhelds outside of the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to staff and patients looking out the windows.

And, of course, Wally made sure the handhelds were hand-delivered to the hospital team to ensure that they would get put to good use and deliver moments of joy right away!

The Atlanta Braves’ mascot, Blooper, even paid a special visit to some of the patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to drop off their handhelds and do arts & crafts!
