Working Together to Better Serve Black Families
At Starlight Children's Foundation, we are outraged by the injustice and violence that has led to the deaths of George Floyd and far too many other Black lives.
As an organization, we have always been committed to delivering happiness to all seriously ill children, and we will remain steadfast in this mission as we continue to serve families of all races and ethnicities. We work to uphold our values: service, integrity, and accountability.
Taking Action
Because words are not enough, we are committed to making change through sustained action.
We will create a project team to look internally at how and where we can be more inclusive and diverse as an organization.
We will work with our network of hospital partners across the country to identify how we can better design and distribute our programs to serve Black families.
We will prioritize our efforts to serve more Black and underserved families with seriously ill children.
We look forward to making Starlight a better organization, one committed to serving everyone in our community. Our highest priority each day is to be there for every child who needs us.
Resources
One of the most important things we as adults can do is to have honest, compassionate conversations about racism with the children in our lives. We have collected some of our favorite resources to facilitate these discussions and hope they may be helpful to you.
