Streamers For Starlight Going Strong

When Starlight joined the world of charity streaming, we hoped we would be welcomed by the gaming community with open arms. After all, we have been placing Gaming stations custom-made for children in hospital settings since 1992 and have seen firsthand how gaming can change lives.

What happened was a welcome surprise. It wasn’t only gamers joining our September kick-off, but cooks, artists, drummers, and more!

September 2019: Stream For Starlight

In September, 76 streamers on Twitch, Mixer, and YouTube joined Stream for Starlight to fundraise for seriously ill kids. More than 1200 donors raised more than $48,000, with funds used to deliver Starlight Virtual Reality, Gaming, and Gowns to seriously ill kids and their families across the US.

Some of the streamers showed up in BIG ways:

  • Loserfruit donated $126,000 of her tournament winnings from EpicGames Fortnite Summer Block Party PRO-AM Tournament

  • The8BitDrummer played the drums and rocked his way to a $5,000 donation, which funded a Starlight Gaming Station for Children’s Health Medical University of South Carolina

  • MeganPlays and her community raised $5,000 while playing Roblox, donating a Starlight Gaming Station to Cook Children’s in Fort Worth

  • Nintendo Ambassadors including VikkiKitty, JonGamez, and MissClick Gaming played their favorite Nintendo games and joined in after the launch of our band new Starlight Nintendo Switch Gaming Station

  • Team Bone-In (below), a team of 13 chefs and bakers, raised an amazing $8,500 cooking up delicious treats for their live audience

December 2019: 12 Days of Streaming

Over the 2019 holiday season, we hosted a mini-campaign called 12 Days of Streaming. Let’s hear it for the season of giving! We raised $9.2K from the generous support of 22 streamers.

Among our holiday angels: JeffBrutlag and CelHeals streamed for 12 hours straight and raised more than $1,500 each and AngelsPiano (below) took donations for every new song she played.

April 2020: Stream with Style

We will be launching our annual Design-a-Gown campaign in April 2020, inviting the public once again to design the next Starlight Gown. If you’re an artistic streamer or would like to help us raise funds so we can make sure every child who goes in for surgery has a comfy and fun gown, now is the time to get started on planning your stream. Email us at stream@starlight.org with any questions.

We can’t wait to make 2020 an even greater year with this incredibly generous community.
