Starlight Gowns Helping Hospitalized Kids Feel Seen, Heard, and Known
For many kids, hospital visits can be lonely, scary, and uncomfortable. Hospital wear especially can be a source of discomfort, leaving kids feeling exposed or embarrassed in an already overwhelming situation.
Starlight Gowns replace uncomfortable and embarrassing hospital gowns with high-quality, comfortable, and brightly colored ones. And we love collaborating with partners like foster dad Peter Mutabazi to create fun, new designs!
Mutabazi is on a mission to help children feel seen, heard, and known. He ran away from an abusive home as a child and a generous family took him in. Years later, he became a foster dad and adopted his son, Anthony, when he was abandoned at a hospital.
Through Now I Am Known, he brings a message of hope to the hopeless.
Now I Am Known-themed Starlight Gowns feature a puppy surrounded by words of affirmation including “You are chosen,” “You are enough,” and “You belong”. They are specially designed with snaps on the sleeves and ties down the side to provide better coverage for kids and easier access for hospital staff during medical procedures.
These Gowns are already making a difference for patients at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina! Not only do kids there get a fun and empowering Gown, but they also receive an adorable Now I Am Known Plushie to cuddle with during their hospitalization.
We are thrilled to partner with Mutabazi, an advocate for the most vulnerable communities who loves to give back.
