Meet Stacy, the One-Person Child Life Program
We’ve been spotlighting some amazing Child Life professionals from our hospital partners throughout March. Generally, those teams are made up of multiple people – but for Stacy at SwedishAmerican Hospital, she is a one-person show and a Certified Child Life Specialist superstar.
Stacy spends her days helping families and hospitalized children cope with their extended stays. She says she loves making connections with her pediatric patients and their families and knowing she is there to give them support and care to reduce the stress of hospitalization.
When a child is hospitalized for any amount of time, their world is turned upside down. Starlight programs, like Gaming, Deliveries, and Hero Wagons, supply Stacy with the resources to support her patients by providing them moments of joy and comfort – to make them just feel like kids for a little while.
She said, “The Gaming Stations are versatile and heavy-duty enough for the amount of use they get and provide plenty of entertainment and distraction. Deliveries allow us to provide birthday or holiday gifts to the kids, or even update our playrooms and make sure toddlers to teens have toys they can keep. The Hero Wagons are bringing nothing but joy to the kids. They help the children feel mobile and provide a little comfort along the way.”
Hospitalized kids, like those that Stacy supports, are waiting for Starlight programs. Donate today and deliver happiness to those that need it most.
